In a new Joomla installation, the default Joomla template is called "rhuk_solarflare_ii."
One of the earliest questions that new users often have is "how do I remove the "powered by Joomla"" message at the top of the page.
This is what I am referring to:
The "powered by Joomla" message is actually linked to the "advertisement" banner next to it by the designer of the template. So, to turn off the "Powered by Joomla" message, we will also turn off the banner.
Here is how to do that.
Log in to the administrator part of your website (often called the "back end"). This will be found at this address:
At the next screen, enter your administrator name and password:
The "banners" part of Joomla is a "Module" so this will be turned on and off in the "Module Manager"
Look for the module named "Banner." If you want to edit the settings for the module, you would click on the name of the module.
But, we simply want to "unpublish" the module. Dont' delete it. You might need it some day. Simply "unpublish" it and it will disappear:
Here's how to unpublish a module. Simply click on the "published status" icon to switch it back and forth between "published" (in Joomla 1.5, this is called "enabled.") and "unpublished."
After you unpublish the banner, it will look like this:
That's it! You have unpublished the module. Now, go to the "front end" (or public) part of your site and refresh the page. You will see that the banner and the "powered by Joomla" message are gone.
