How do I create a new "Contact Us" record?

PDF | Print | E-mail

Joomla uses a special list of "Contact" names to allow web site visitors to send emails / get addresses and phone numbers / etc.   Here's how to edit a name of that list, or to add new names to the list.

The first things to know

You cannot edit the "Contact IUs" information from the "front end" of Joomla.  This must be done in the administrative "back end" by someone with site manager / administator priviledges.

Step 1:  Log in to the Administrative Site

Step 2: Go to the Contacts Screen

The contacts screen is located under /Components /Contacts /Manage Contacts

Once there, you will see a list of "Contacts" that have been set up for your website.  The screen looks like this:

To edit an existing contact person, simply click on their name.

To add a new contact person, click on the "New" icon in the upper right corner of the screen:

Step 3: Enter or Edit the Contact Information

Now, you simply fill out a form with the information you want to make available about the contact person.

If you have a photo of this person, you can include the photo as well.

Note, the photo must have been uploaded before this point.  You cannot (unfortunately) upload it while working on the contact information page.  The photo must be in the "stories" folder of the images section of your Joomla site.

To add the photo, to to the images tab on the right of the screen, and select the picture from the list of images there.

Now, the "proportions" of the photo might not look right here, but it will look OK once it is on the screen.

Step 5:  Save your work, and you are done!
