How to remove "Welcome to the Front Page"

PDF | Print | E-mail

You can also watch a video version of this tutorial here.

If you install Joomla with the sample data, you will see the message "Welcome to the Front Page" on the website.  And, finding where to turn that off, or where to change it can be frustrating.

That's because those words are not where you might expect them to be.

Let's take a look at the process of removing this.

faq-welcome-to-the-frontpage-374
First of all, the title of a page is controlled in the menu manager, so let's go to the Menu Item Manager for the Main Menu. faq-menu-main-menu-302
Now, select the "Home" page to edit the menu item settings. faq-menu-edit-home-menu-317

Once you have the menu item setting on the screen, look at the "Parameters" / Settings section on the right side of the screen.

Click on the "Parameters - System" section.

Now you have found the place where the words "Welcome to the Front Page" are!

You can edit these, or simply remove the words.

If there is nothing there, then the website name will appear on the page.

If you do not want any title at all to appear, then uncheck the box titled "Show Page Title."

That's it!  You are done.
